About
We are passionate about building strong, respectful relationships between horses and riders. Our holistic approach to training and care prioritizes communication and trust, ensuring a harmonious partnership that benefits both horse and rider. We believe every horse has unique talents, and we tailor our training to harness those qualities, creating willing and confident animals ready for their next chapter—whether that’s in competitive arenas, trail riding, or as cherished companions.
Our services extend beyond just training. We offer introductory lessons for young riders, off-site lessons for more experienced riders, and specialized clinics designed to develop both the horse and rider. We also provide therapeutic sessions for veterans, trauma survivors, and individuals in recovery, using the transformative bond between horse and human to promote healing and emotional well-being.
At Black Hawk Equine, we take pride in our quality horse sales. Through our tailored sale fitting and consignment programs, we ensure each horse is well-prepared for their next owner, giving them the best chance to succeed. Our commitment to quality, personalized care, and client satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do.
Located in Dorchester County, Maryland, we serve riders across all experience levels and are dedicated to becoming a leader in equine services in the region. Whether you’re looking for training, therapeutic services, or a new horse, we’re here to guide you on your journey, fostering connections that last a lifetime.

With a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management with an Equine Focus from Penn State University, Taylor combines academic knowledge with over a decade of practical experience working with horses across multiple disciplines.
Taylor’s love for horses began at age three, and by seven, she had her first off-the-track Thoroughbred (OTTB). Over the years, she has retrained and restarted more than 20 OTTBs, specializing in rehabilitation and transitioning horses into new careers. Taylor’s experience spans a wide array of disciplines, including trail riding, reining, ranch riding, mounted shooting, hunter under saddle, jumpers, and a variety of other English and western classes. This breadth of knowledge allows her to tailor her training methods to each horse’s unique needs, whether they are young prospects, seasoned trail partners, or performance horses.
In addition to her extensive work with OTTBs, Taylor has experience training police horses, preparing them for the unique demands of service. She is also PATH-certified, enabling her to provide professional therapeutic riding instruction. Her dedication to equine therapy includes working with veterans, trauma survivors, and individuals in recovery, helping them build confidence and find healing through horse-human connections. Taylor has also provided instruction for a state-run program designed to give underprivileged individuals the opportunity to experience horses, showcasing her passion for making the equestrian world accessible to all.
Taylor now has over 12 years of expertise in colt starting and problem-solving. She has managed and operated several large facilities, including barns for an FEI medal dressage rider, top hunter/jumper stables, and a leading Paint Horse breeding facility. Her experience overseeing the day-to-day operations of facilities with up to 60 horses has included everything from facility upkeep and scheduling to managing lesson programs and ensuring the highest standards of care. Taylor’s leadership has been integral in maintaining the success and smooth operation of these diverse facilities.
At Black Hawk Equine, Taylor is focused on creating strong, trusting relationships between horses and riders. Her training philosophy is built on clear communication, patience, and respect for each horse’s individuality.
